- As expected, every team in NFC East lost, so the Eagles didn't lose any ground in the division after their loss on Sunday to Minnesota. The home defeat will hurt at the end of the year, if the birds get into the playoffs, regarding home field advantage. The best any Eagle fan could probably hope for now is, winning the East, getting a home playoff game, then probably needing to win a road game to get to the Super Bowl again.
- Maybe worse than the current loss, the team lost RB Jay Ajayi for the season with a torn ACL. It's not only the last game of the year for Ajayi this season, but most likely the end of his brief Eagle career, as he is a free agent after the season.
Much talk about trading for Pittsburgh's RB Bell, but doesn't seem like a match. I would think GM Howie Rossman will pick-up another running back soon, as Clement and Sproles are still banged-up. Smallwood played well against the Vikings and should see more time this Thursday night against the Giants.

The Astros swept out the Indians in the American League playoffs and also swept out my prediction of Cleveland winning the World Series this season. If the Red Sox finish the Yankees by winning one of the next two games, the AL Championship Series should be a classic between Boston and Houston.
Meanwhile, on the National League side, the Dodgers finished the young Braves in four games. They take on the red-hot Brewers in the NLCS. LA has the stars and experience- Milwaukee has not lost yet in the post-season, including winning the NL Central at Wrigley Field. I'll take the Brewers in 6 games. If Boston does move on, I see them beating Houston, also in 6 games.
Boston vs Milwaukee in the World Series- and neither team is nicknamed the Braves.

The Flyers' home opener is tonight against San Jose, with the home debut of Gritty, the team's world-famous mascot. Far more concern is the loss of JVR- James Van Remsdyke for 5-6 weeks with a knee injury. The young players need to step up, while old vets such as Simmons, Gerioux and Vorochek need to keep the team afloat, especially as Brian Elliot and the goaltending situation works its way out.
