THIS DAY IN SPORTS HISTORY- JULY 27

Hall of Fame Trivia

Cal Hubbard is the only man to be named to the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame as well as the Baseball Hall of Fame. He was among the initial class of inductees to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963.

In a 1969 poll by the Hall of Fame committee, Hubbard was voted the NFL's greatest tackle of all-time. In recognition of his contributions to the game of baseball as an umpire and supervisor, Hubbard was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1976, only the fifth umpire to be so honored up to that time.
