THIS DAY IN SPORTS HISTORY- JUNE 26

College World Series History

"I guess playing in the first two College World Series games also stands out as being special. We had a wonderful coach in Ethan Allen and some terrific pitching in Frank Quinn and Walt Gratham. I can't say I contributed much on offense, but it was a heck of a ride nonetheless."

- George H. Bush (Yale 1B)

On this date in 1948, USC beats Yale 9-2 to win the best of three College World Series 2 games to 1.
