- The Phillies bounced back form a weekend in Hell by beating the Cubs at Wrigley Field last night, 6-1. Zach Eflin temporarily saved a spot in the rotation by pitching 7 2/3 innings of excellent baseball. Siranthony Dominguez picked up the save by pitching a scoreless 9th inning. Nick Williams blasted a 2-run homer. Everyone in the line-up got at least one hit. Maybe still will get the team out of it's batting funk?
Tonight the Phils go for the series win behind Aaron Nola. Sweeping Chicago would give the team a 5-5 road trip, great, considering all the tribulations in LA and San Francisco.
- It was a joke of a rally yesterday afternoon in the Rose Garden at the White House. The Eagles' invitation to visit was rescinded by the President after it was reported there may only be as few as ten or less people attending from the Eagles' party. Major embarrassment for Trump. The players weren't going to show because they dislike Trump, not because of the National Anthem issue. The Birds did not "let down" their fans, as a White House statement proclaimed. If anything I'm proud that the organization stuck to it's guns and did what it thought was the right thing to do.
What will happen next year when the Eagles win the Super Bowl again? It's pretty obvious that one cannot support Trump and the Eagles at the same time. It's either one or the other, or none. Trump is pissed that his buddy, Tom Brady, wasn't there to accept congratulations instead.
- Reportedly, Sixers ownership met in new York City last evening to discuss the Bryan Colangelo mess. The longer this drags on the worse it gets. Even if Colangelo's wife is to blame for the burner tweets, it doesn't matter. Colangelo is still at fault for revealing sensitive and private information. I
Drafting Villanova's Makial Bridges, then signing LeBron James would mean a successful off-season so far.just want the drama resolved so fans can start focusing on the upcoming draft and free agency.
- To me, the surprise in baseball so far, aside from young Atlanta and Milwaukee's dominance, is Seattle. They now lead AL West by 2 games over the world champion Astros. The Mariners and 'Stros are playing a series in Houston this week.
