PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- PHILLIES, NBA PLAYOFFS

- The Phillies looked listless and disinterested last nigh tin their loss to the brewers. Odubel Herrera especially looks lost as his average dips below .300. Franco sits again, while Valasquez gives up 10 runs in five innings. As stated before, Valasquez belongs in the bullpen. I've seen enough.

- Milwaukee did exactly what a road team  needs to do  in the first game of a series- get a big lead early. force the home team to catch-up. Turn the crowd against the home team. By the 4th inning the game was over and the stands started emptying out. Wasn't a big crowd anyway for a Friday night ( the weather was beautiful).

The Brewers look to be a good club. I'm sure NL Central will be tight all summer, with Milwaukee battling the Cubs, Pirates and Cardinals. The Phils play them two more games this weekend, including an afternoon tilt today, then travel to Miller Park next weekend for a three-game series there.

- The team continues to strikeout too much and not play small ball enough. No bunts, steals. moving runners. So they have a tough time scoring runs. How do they snapped out of it?

Maybe this group just isn't good enough? Maybe it's the leadership and coaching. The hitters aren't aggressive enough.  Maybe Santana needs to be traded if the Phils are sellers in July. Maybe Hernandez, although a good ,solid player, needs to be dealt for pitching and maybe Scott Kingery plays his normal position of second base.

- Rhys Hoskins may be back today with a modified batting helmet. Dylan Cozens left last night's game with tightness in his quad. Makes sense as Hoskins returns, his Bash Brother Cozens goes on the 10-day DL.

- Golden State swept Cleveland, winning it's second straight NBA title ( as i predicted in this blog last fall). LeBron James will most surely depart the Cavs again, in search of more championships. Who will dethrone the Warriors? Are the Sixers in the mix next season?

- Why don't I believe Lenny Dykstra? I wish he would just go away, like Roseanne and Cosby.

Another guy who needs to disappear is Terrill Owens. T.O., after finally making the Pro Football Hall of Fame, has now decided not to attend the ceremony in August. How selfish! Not to acknowledge family, friends, teammates and coaches who helped along the way. But that's T.O.- unpredictable.

- Nice to see the Patriots imploding in front of us. If they do decline this season, who in the AFC  will step up? The Jaguars should've beaten the Pats in the AFC Championship Game. Never count out the Steelers. What about the Raiders with Jon Gruden? Believe it or not, the Browns suddenly have talent. Will the Bills finally give New England a tough time in AFC East?
