PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- PHILLIES, EAGLES

- Kudos to the Phillies, who bounced back and took 2 of 3 from Colorado. The usually inconsistent Vince Valasquez took a no-hitter into the 7th inning. He pitched like he did several years ago when Valasquez struck-out 16 Padres.

- Rhys Hoskins is getting hot, hitting a homer and collecting 3 hits against the Rockies yesterday afternoon. Odubel Herrera got a pair of hits, Nick Williams smashed a home run and J.P. Crawford had a couple hits. More importantly, the team hit with runners in scoring position and moved runners along. Along with the big inning, Kapler needs to  play small ball as well. Bunts, steals, hit-and-runs, all can help manufacture runs, especially when the offense is slumping.

- No need for Siranthony on Thursday afternoon. He will be available this weekend. The Phillies start a series with Milwaukee tonight. Arrieta, Eflin and Nola are scheduled to start this weekend.

- Excitement into the 7th inning as Valasquez took a no-hitter  late into the game. His pitch count was over 100. It would've been interesting to see if Kapler would've allowed Valasquez to return in the 8th if the no-hitter was still in tact.I know the fans would've killed Kapler if he walked out of the dugout and removed Valasquez from the game while he was still throwing a no-hitter.

Valasquez has the stuff to pitch a no-no down the road. So does Nola, who also took a no-hitter into the 7th inning this season.  There's nothing like it, the anticipation and excitement.

- The Eagles wrapped up mini-camp and got their championship rings on Thursday. The glitzier, the blingier, the better describes the ring.  Along with the memories, the ring can never be taken away.

- The team rests now for a good 6 weeks before training camp begins. Carson Wentz continues to look great. I twill be very interesting as September approaches whether it will be Wentz or Foles on opening night against the Falcons.
