Brickyard Tradition
Winners Drink Milk
The tradition of the Indy 500 winner's drinking from a bottle of milk at Indy started when three-time Indy 500 winner Louis Meyer asked for a bottle of buttermilk following his second Indy 500 victory in 1933.
In 1945 Tony Hulman bought the Speedway and added the tradition of the bottle of milk as a permanent part of the victory ceremony.
