- Give the Sixers credit for showing heart and grit by beating Boston and keeping their series alive. I've slammed Coach Brett Brown for bad decisions in this series, but give him kudos for starting guard T.J. McConnell. He brings energy to the table, plays good defense and doesn't turn the ball over.
- I still think the Celtics will win the series, now up 3-1, however the pressure is now on Boston. They better win Game 5 at home or else the series returns to Philly on Friday and the scene will be wild. Game 7 on Mother's Day this Sunday seems so far away. But if the Sixers win tomorrow night, anything can happen. Why not the 76ers, soon after the Eagles proved that anything is possible?
- Why are the Sixers still favored to win every game, despite being down in the series? Why are they not favored to win the overall series? The Sixers have hung with the Celts the entire way. it's safe to say Philly didn't lose two of the games- they gave away those two games. Is it too late now to do something never done better? How it would rip the hear tout of New England fans to see the Celtics choke soon after the Patriots lost?
- The Phillies could do no wrong last night at Citixens Bank Park, crushing the giants 11-0. San Francisco came in winners of six in a row. Instead they looked lackadaisical in committing three errors. Zach Eflin pitched brilliantly again, going six=plus innings of shut-out ball. Eflin seems to have found himself, keeping the ball low and relying on his heavy sinker.
- I criticize Odubel Herrera when he doesn't hustle and plays stupid ball but give him credit now. Herrera is playing like an All-Star. He crushed two homers last night and is hitting over .340.
- Franco continues to be hot and hit clean-up against the Giants. Santana blasted a center field home run. And Cesar Hernandez crushed a homer to right. With Arrieta, Hoskins and Nola, could the Phillies have as many as five All-Stars this summer?
- Young reliever Siranthony Dominguez was called up to the majors yesterday. The hard-throwing righty, who is only 23-years-old and throws 98 m.p.h., pitched a scoreless 8th inning. He is scoreless and hit-less at Reading, Lehigh Valley and now Philadelphia this season. I hope he becomes the permanent closer. I've seen enough of Hector Neris, especially after he blew the Washington game last Sunday. The bullpen needs a hammer as a closer, a weapon the Phillies lack. They have tons of set-up guys. Hopefully Dominguez is that hammer now and for a long time to come.
- With the win, the Phils move to 1/2 game out of 1st place in NL East behind the idle Braves. Atlanta starts a series at Tampa Bay tonight. The Phillies, 19-15 on the season, continue with the Giants, with Aaron Nola taking the mound.
- Former Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins was at the game last night, after he rang the bell at the Sixers' big playoff game.
- Great to see the Penguins get eliminated. No three-peat for Pittsburgh. Wouldn't it be amazing to see the expansion Vegas Golden Knights win the Stanley Cup?
