- Kudos to the Phillies for nicely rebounding from a devastating loss to Los Angeles. Great having ace pitchers like Arrieta and Nola to stop losing streaks. Zach Efflin goes tonight, with a classic pitchers duel, Nola vs. Kershaw on Thursday. Good chance to at least split the series.
- Nick Williams has been the best pinch-hitter in baseball, smacking 3 homers. But he deserves to play everyday. He was an RBI machine last season. This year he has been platooning in the outfield. Somehow he needs a more regular role. Williams crushed another homer in LA last night.
- Arrieta pitched 7 scoreless innings, coming up big when needed. Hector Neris gave up the only run in a shaky 8th inning. The only guy I trust in that bullpen now is Siranthony Dominguez. When Pat Neshek returns ( hopefully soon), either Neris or Garcia need to go.
- Crazy stuff with this Brian Colangelo and fake Twitter accounts. Why would the guy risk his job and career? Why is anyone on Twitter? Ego. Delusional thinking that his opinions are important enough to read and follow? Other than his meaningless opinions, the most serious allocations are leaking confidential medical information. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, the Sixers will do about this. It needs to happen quickly, as the draft comes up in several weeks, with free agency starting on July 1st.
Chances are Colangelo really did have five fake accounts. He admitted to one, and, when the organization found out about the rogue accounts, three were immediately switched to private accounts.
It's one thing if Colangelo was open about make comments and debating with fans and was honest about it. It's another when he says one thing publicly to the media and another when he secretly expresses his honest feelings on social media.
I expect him to get fired. Will Sam Hinkie return? I'm sure the Trust the Process idiots will be clambering for Hinkie and saying "I told you so!"
I don't feel sorry for Colangelo. He didn't have to be a spineless coward, hiding behind five fake Twitter accounts, criticizing his own players, leaking confidential medical information and arguing with fans.He was weasel-like, sneaky and weird.
PS. Howie Rossman is so much ahead of the other clueless GM's in the city. Klentek, Hexstall and Colangelo are all losers.
- Meanwhile coach Brett Brown was given a three-year contract extension. Brown was badly out-coached during the Boston series. He lost as he was told to lose for many seasons. He has been a good solider and now has a shot for greatness.
