PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- SIXERS, PHILLIES

- Were the Sixers rusty last night in their loss to the Celtics? Or did they simply lose to a better team? Were they over-confident?  When you live by the 3-point shot, you die by the 3-point shot, and last night was brutal for the Sixers. They missed too many 3-pointers and it seemed every Boston 3-pointer was uncontested.

- Coach Brown didn't have a good night as the team looked unprepared.Even though most experts and fans have picked the Sixers to win this season- and they still may- the Celts have the home court advantage and have beaten Philly 3 out of 4 games this season.  So last night's Celtic win shouldn't be a total surprise.

- I still say Sixers in 6. Like the Miami series, the 76ers should come back Thursday night with a vengeance.

- Meanwhile, the slumping Phillies lost their third game in a row, losing to the woeful Marlins 8-4 last night. The Phils continue to play poorly with fundamentals and go brain-dead on the bases. They strike-out too much and aren't clutch with runners in scoring position.

- Jake Arrieta sucked against Miami and left early. He will have such games, but as an ace he was counted on to snap the losing streak. Now it's up to Zach Eflin, who was just recalled from Lehigh Valley and gets his first start of the season.

- Carlos Santana is killing the team. He was dropped to 5th in the batting order but still isn't hitting. He walks but there is little power. Stop with the excuses of Santana being "unlucky." He is slow so he isn't a good fit at the top of the line-up. I would hit him 6th or 7th and hope he breaks out of his slump soon.

- With all of that said, the Phillies are still only two games in back of the Mets for first place in NL East. Atlanta is in second, a 1/2 game ahead of Philadelphia.
