- As predicted, Maddie Poppe won American Idol last night. She had the perfect formula: a silky-smooth voice, excellent song choices, a simple , charming style, and she's cute too. Maddie should have a nice career as a folksy-type singer/songwriter, but I do think someone else who didn't win will have a better career.
Will it Cade as a rocker? Michael J. on Broadway? Gabby and Caleb on Country Music radio? Will Ada Vox audition again for Idol next season, as he/she has done 12 times before?
All in all, it was a solid group of singers but lacked one special singer who stood out head and shoulders above everyone.
- I liked the immediate vote this season. The year went too fast, so hopefully they stretch out the year like before. - The judges got better as the year went on. Katy was unpredictable and fun. not guarding her emotions. Lionel was the mature, teacher-type, never saying anything bad about anyone at any time. Luke was just there most of the time.
- Nice seeing former contestants last night during the lavish finale. Jimmy Kimmel was funny. The duets were better than Sunday night. Entertaining stuff. And they drug out the results, as expected, right til 10:57 EST.
- The surprise was Caleb's late announcement that he and Maddie are an item. They work fast, as they only met during Hollywood week, which was only a few weeks ago. We knew that Cade and Gabby were a couple, but Caleb and Maddie? Idol gave both trips to Hawaii. Perfect getaway. America's sweethearts, like the Royals?
- The season was fun. Auditions were fun but Hollywood week was too long. Idol is fun to watch but even more fun during the week to discuss with others. I started washing it again this year after not watching for several years. Glad I did.
- Finally, will Philadelphia get an audition this summer, with so many local talent going so far? Already looking forward to next year!
