- A record 13 home runs were hit at Citizens Bank Park Monday night, 8 of them by visiting Arizona during their win over the Phillies, 13-8. With the loss the Phils drop into a first place tie in NL East with the surging Atlanta Braves.
Jared Eichoff gave up homers to the first three Diamondback batters in the first inning. Eichoff surrendered a total of five home runs on the night.
The media loves Eichoff, calling him a "workhorse." I've never liked him since he was traded to Philadelphia from Texas in the Cole Hamels deal. Eichoff wasn't a top prospect in the Rangers farm system. He has a decent fastball and a good curve ( when he can control it). His problem, as witnessed last night, is giving up too many gopher balls and hittable pitches.
Scott Kingery blasted a pair of opposite field homers and hit a triple to lead the Phillies. He deserves to play everyday. he is currently holding down center field, but his true position remains second base/
Lefty Ranger Suarez ate up innings and also gave up two bombs.
Harper continues to strike out. Hoskins continues to struggle. But on a humid, steamy night at the ballpark, the offense wasn't the problem. Tonight, the inconsistent Jake Arrieta takes the mound, trying to snap a two-game Phillies losing streak.
_ Awesome Game 5 last night in the NBA Finals. Golden State pulled out a thrilling one point win to send the series back to Oakland for a Game 6 showdown on Thursday night. Toronto leads the series, 3 games to 2.
The real story was Kevin Durant. The superstar was given the green light to play, despite having an injured calf. He ended up blowing out his Achilles and is done for the series, probably all of next season, and maybe for his career.
The biggest losers are; The Warriors, who must live with life without Durant for the rest of this series, and the guilt of sending Durant out to play when he clearly wasn't ready.
The fans in Toronto are losers because they cheered when Durant hit the floor and grabbed his leg, even waving bye to Durant when he was helped off the court.
Another loser is the new York Knicks, who were prepared to sign Durant this summer as a free agent, the first block in their rebuilding process. Back to the drawing board, Knick fans.
