Embarrassing and disgraceful loss by the Phillies in Miami last night. They almost set a record, becoming only the second team in major league history to be ahead by 7 runs in a game, only to lose by 10 or more runs. The 2 meaningless runs in the 9th inning prevented that dubious distinction.
It's not fun being a Phillies fan these days. Worse, things aren't getting better and there doesn't seem to be hope for the future.
I'm tired of the trio of Eflin, Valasquez and Pivetta. They are all headcases and can't pitch. I had more faith in Eflin, but he has also disappointed this season.
Valasquez was in the bullpen and should stay there. Pivetta needs to be traded or sent down to the minors. Eflin may be worth saving but even he is on thin ice.
Bryce Harper is on Paternity Leave right now, awaiting the birth of his son, bit don't blame his absence for the loss. 11 runs should be more than enough to win against the lowly Marlins.
The bullpen still sucks. GM Klentek, if he is still here, has a lot of work to do on this team. Aside from Aaron Nola, the starters can't go more than 5 innings. They are merely "throwers" not pitchers.
I love the Phils, but if John Middleton doesn't make significant changes after the season, I will hesitate before I buy tickets for 2020. I already looked at the schedule and have targeted certain games. but I won't pull the trigger if all we get is the same old crap.
Zach Eflin goes tonight for Philadelphia. Even winning 2 of 3 now in Miami may not excite me. Not after the dreadful way the club lost last night.
Can't wait for the Eagles to start!
