The inconsistent Phillies were tied 1-1 last night in a pivotal game against the Mets into the 7th inning. After Aaron Nola left the game, after another great outing, the bullpen imploded, giving up 10 runs in two innings. They lost 11-5, dropping 3 1/2 games behind the cubs for the last wild card spot.
Pitching continues to be the Phillies' downfall. After Nola, there really is no one to count on. Getting swept this weekend at home to rival New York is now a real possibility. Could it be the final nail in Gabe Kapler's coffin?
After a relatively "easy" schedule against Miami, Pittsburgh and San Diego, September gets tougher, with division games plus a road trip to Cleveland.
The 25-man roster expands on Sunday. Will pitching prospect Spencer Howard come up to Philly?
Afternoon game today vs the Mets. Will there be more New York fans at Citizens Bank Park than Phils' fans?
Cuts in Pro Football today. The biggest name so far is former Eagle running back LeSean McCoy. Will he come back to Philly? Probably not. Birds have an abundance of backs, plus Shady isn't what he used to be.
