-Another pre-season snoozer last night as the Jets neat the Eagles, 6-0. A meaningless game to the fans ( unless you bet it). I doubt they will cut back the pre-season football games from 4 to 2. The owners are making money from ticket sales, concessions, parking, etc.The sportsbooks ar emaking money from losers placing bets on the pre-season games. The fans need to ignore the games, not attend and not place a wager. This will never happen, as by this time of the summer fans are dying for football.
Maybe the biggest question for the Birds is, does Josh Adams or Wendell Smallwood make the team at running back? My guess is that Smallwood makes the cut.
Sounds like DeSean Jackson, broken left ring finger and all, will start the opener vs Washington. How will Carson Wentz look at QB after nott aking one single snap all pre-season? Will the Eagles work out a deal for clowney and deal Nate Sudfeld to Indianapolis?
-The Phillies open up a huge weekend series with the rival Mets tonight. The Phils avoid both deGrome and Synderguuard this weekend, while throwing their ace, Aaron Nola, at New York. The club is now 2 1/2 games in back of the cubs for the final wils card spot.
Three of the teams' top prospects- Spencer Howard, Mickey Moniak and Alex Bohm- will play in the fall Arizona League this year. Howard may be a part of the September call-ups, starting on Sunday.
Bryce Harper had agreat August, clubbing 10 home runs so far. with 2 games to play. He has slowly become a clubhouse leader while continuing to play hard. He is Mr. Clutch on the 2019. It would be nice if he continued to carry the team into September and beyond.
