WELCOME! Thanks for visiting my blog! This is my first post,. About 10 years ago I wrote a column for the local newspaper, The Phoenix, called Wheeling Around Phoenixville. It was about disability issues in my community and around the world. I wrote about topics such as accessibility, disability etiquette, sharing stories of remarkable achievements and courage, and hopefully bringing to light much-needed awareness.
People seemed to really enjoy it. So I decided to revive the column, this time in blog-form. Hopefully I can reach even more readers with greater access to the internet.
I have so much life experience to share. You see, I"ve used a wheelchair for 55 years. I have a rare genetic bone disorder called Osteogenisus Imperfecti...That"s a medical term for brittle bones.
I wrote a book about my life with OI back in 2003 titled Those Are The Breaks.
Despite the physical challenge I was a social worker at the local hospital and several nursing homes for over 30 years. I"m retired now and have more time to write.
I hope this blog will be informative and fun. I plan to touch on disability issues, both old and new, but also hope to share my passion of sports, music, movies, trivia, dogs and much more!
So, please check out my blog often. tell me what you think ,and share your own life experiences and ideas Let me know what topics you would like to read about.I look forward to hearing from you.
Have fun and take care!
Greg
