More hot Sixers talk..
SIXERS-
The deal to secure the no. 1 pick in Thursday's NBA draft should be finalized today. Boston will send the no. 1 selection to the Sixers for the no. 3 choice and next year's Lakers pick ( if it falls between 2-5) or the 2019 coveted Sacremento pick.
I like the deal. In fact, it's too soon to tell, but it's smack of a steal for Philadelphia. I really expected when I heard the rumor of this deal last week that the Sixers would have to give up much more. Originally it was the no. 3 pick, both the Lakers and Sacremento picks, plus Saric and maybe Okafor
Hopefully the Lakers pick will go to the Celtics, as I think the Kings future pick will be a top-notcher. Sacremento stinks and in 2 years should still stink. Their front office doesn't give me confidence that the Kings will improve anytime soon.
So, the 76'ers get the consensus best player in this draft, plus he is a player of need. Markelle Fultz, the Washington point guard expected to go no.1, can shoot, handle the ball and run the floor. Those who wonder if Fultz and Ben Simmons can co-exist in the backcourt should relax. When Simmons is handling the ball Fultz can play off-guard.
Think of the roster now. Health will be the key. Hopefully the Sixers' doctors don't put too many limits on Ebiid and Simmons. Covington is in the fothe good soldier and hanging in there with crap for years, Brown will be expected to win now. That's a switch. If Brown doesn't show continued progress he will be out the door in favor of a coach who can carry this squad to the next level.
Exciting times are ahead for Sixer fans. The long-suffering fans deserve good times. No more tanking or kicking the can down the road. This team should attract free agents. The rebuilding process may be ending. The Championship process is just beginning.
